Brazil has world-class beaches
The beaches along the coast of Brazil are very high class and whether you are traveling to Northern or Southern Brazil, there are many to choose from. Here is an overview of some of the best beach areas in Brazil.
Northeastern Brazil’s beaches
Beaches with the best sun record are located along the coast in northeastern Brazil. Here are lots of quaint little villages where tourism is not found yet, but conversely also a destination that is more purpose built for tourists.
The cities of Fortaleza, Natal, Recife and Salvador all have international airports. Natal was a charter destination for Thomson in 2005. The whole coast between these four cities have mile after mile of lovely beaches so here are lots to choose from. You can of course also combine several beaches and take as many days as you wish at each site.
The most child friendly beaches for small children in North East Brazil are Morro de Sao Paulo, Pipa, Jericoacoara, Fernando de Noronha, and Porto de Galinhas, because they have beaches that are protected from waves.
The temperature in this part of Brazil is around 30 degrees year round and the water temperature is around 27 degrees. High season is from July to August and 10 December until Carnival, which usually occurs in February. Best time for swimming and sunbathing in northeastern Brazil is most of the year – from July to March.
The beaches in Southeastern Brazil and around Rio de Janeiro
On the coast between Salvador – Rio de Janeiro and down to Sao Paulo are also many very beautiful beaches and also more islands and “archipelago”.
At several locations on the South Easten Coast of Brazil you can find pieces of the tropical Atlantic forest preserved, which makes it possible for explorations into the jungle. At one time it covered the whole of the former Brazilian coast and today the largest preserved areas are around Itacaré in southern Bahia and at Ilha Grande.
Many of the beaches are accessible from Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, but you need to fly. Buzios, Ilha Grande and Niteroi outside Rio de Janeiro is good alterantive within a few hours from Rio de Janeiro.
Coast north of Santos, outside Sao Paulo also offers many beautiful beaches as Ubatuba, Ilha Bela and Sao Sebastiao.
Child-friendly beaches with calm water, you will find, among other attractions, in Buzios and Ilha Grande.
Southern Brazil’s beaches
More and more people are discovering also the island of Santa Catarina, which is linked by bridge to the mainland. The island has 42 beaches to choose from and the state (also named Santa Catarina), capital of Florianopolis is also on the island. There are long sandy beaches and between October and April the climate is excellent for sun and swimming in the area.
In the Land of Parana is also the idyllic island of Ilha do Mel (honey island) with beautiful white sandy beaches and small hotels. North of the island is a nature protection area and there are not any cars on the island. The capital of Parana in Curitiba, where the nearest airport is located.
